Meet Wayne Dale

Founder of Dale Equine Dental Care | Equine Dental Technician | Show Jumper

With over five decades immersed in the world of horses, Wayne Dale’s story is one of passion, precision, and performance. From the showjumping arena to the stable yard, Wayne has dedicated his life to understanding the horse — both in movement and in health.

His journey began in the competitive world of children and junior show jumping, where he quickly rose through the ranks.

As a teenager, he captained the Transvaal Junior Team and won both the Junior South African Championships and Interprovincial titles.

By the 1980s, Wayne was riding for the South African Defence Force Equestrian Unit under Cmdt Peter Stark, where he won the South African Derby, placed in national Grand Prix events, and represented South Africa internationally — including a landmark team trip to Chile in 1991 with Gail Foxcroft and Dominey Alexander.

But Wayne’s commitment to horses extended beyond the competition ring. In 2005 he trained in equine dentistry — studying through the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) and the Academy of Equine Dentistry (USA), with mentorship from leading professionals like Gary Waters. Today, he is one of South Africa’s most respected Equine Dental Technicians.

Wayne is trusted by veterinarians and elite yards across South Africa — from racing stables like Mike and Adam Azzie, Sean Tarry, De Kock Racing and CK Racing, to competitive yards such as Burlington, Glenwood, Cellehof,  Dunblane Equestrian, Weltmeyer Stud, Sunny Park, Glenfox and Northland Stables to name a few.

He also lectures at Beaulieu College and mentors aspiring Equine Dental Technicians from South Africa, the UK, and Ireland, helping to shape the next generation of professionals in the field.

Through Dale Equine Dental Care, Wayne brings championship-level focus and decades of hands-on experience to every horse he treats — whether it’s a Derby winner or a beloved riding pony.
